2020 SPRING Grant-Writing support group | Pilot initiative in newark

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is happy to announce the 2020 Spring Grant-Writing Support Group. This is a pilot initiative that follows the guidelines provided by Rutgers’ Office of Research and Economic Development on how to create a grant-writing support group.

The goal of this initiative is to bring together a small group of postdocs in Newark to apply a focused set of rules to improve their grant-writing skills. The group will consist of no more than six postdocs, preferably with diverse areas of expertise so that the conversations focus on writing rather than the quality of the science. A faculty, who is an experienced grant-writer, will schedule meetings to work on writing. Usually, by the fifth session, the group has discussed and worked through all the grant material. Each session will be limited to 90 minutes. Commitment to attend all sessions is expected and required to remain an active participant in the group. Sessions are set to start mid-spring semester to work on grants with a late spring grant submission cycles.

Please note: This is a pilot program, and there are only six spots available. Priority will be given to those with a late spring submission deadline and to those applicants that will bring to the group diversity of research experts so that the conversations focus on writing rather than the quality of the science. Exact date, time, and location will be determined by the faculty moderator once the selection of applicants has ended. The location will most likely be in the Newark area.

We are happy to announce that Dr. Michael Cole will moderate the group sessions and discussions.

Acceptance to the Spring Grant-Writing Support Group program will be announced around the second week in February.
